Agency Announces Record Weather Balloon Deployment for FY2026
1,204 weather balloons have now been deployed to explain sightings this fiscal year.
The Tin Foil Hat Talks Agency today announced that it has deployed 1,204 weather balloons in fiscal year 2026, a record. Each balloon was used to explain one sighting, except for one large balloon used to explain eleven.
"Balloons remain our most versatile explanation," said a spokesperson for the Office of Plausible Explanations. "They can be any shape, travel at any speed, and remain stationary for hours. People forget how good balloons are."
The Agency reminds the public that balloons are not tracked, catalogued, or retrieved, and that the absence of a balloon is not evidence that there was no balloon.

A line of lights seen over southern Nevada on June 30 were satellites. The light that stopped was also a satellite.
Following hundreds of reports, the Agency has confirmed that the line of lights observed over southern Nevada on the evening of June 30 was a train of commercial satellites.
The single light that broke from the line, stopped, and descended toward the Site S-4 area was a satellite experiencing a minor problem. It has since resumed normal operation, somewhere.

The Agency would like to recognize the staff who were present, none of whom remember anything unusual, and in particular the linguist who was transferred to a remote posting shortly afterward and who, we are told, is well.

Agency Asks Public to Stop Listening to the Hum
Residents who hear a persistent low-frequency hum are advised that it is normal and to think about something else.
The Agency has received a number of inquiries about a low droning sound heard at night. The sound is caused by ordinary machinery and is nothing to be concerned about.
Residents who continue to hear the hum after reading this release are advised to stop listening to it. If the hum appears to be counting, it is not.
